History of the Association

The Winter Park Historical Association, founded in 1974, has evolved from a small group of residents who longed to save and showcase Winter Park’s history to a non-profit organization with a museum, separate office, two employees and an active membership and Board of Directors. In 1995, after seven long years of searching for a home, the museum was opened in the historic Farmer's Market Building. Trained docents welcome local residents, tourists, school groups and senior citizens to the museum. A photo timeline of Winter Park’s history and changing the exhibits appeal to visitors of all ages. In 2005, the Association’s offices found a permanent home in Casa Feliz, an historic home moved and restored in recent years.

In the last decade, Americans have shown a renewed appreciation for the value of real and home-grown attractions. Our Association remains committed to showcasing the history of our beautiful town. Even new events such as our own annual Garden Tour and Peacock Ball celebrate the best of our city today with a focus on our past.
